1/2400th ACW Ironclad Update

ASV59 with added gun
ASV55 Before and After

I’m hoping to get the last of the models painted for the ACW job over this weekend, so have been busy cleaning up and basing what’s left from the box of stuff. The last lot consists of ten tinclad or cotton clads, half a dozen paddle and screw gunboats and four assorted screw or paddle tugs, so not too much to tackle. In the process I decided to do a quick up-arming of some of the cotton clads with spare fortress guns from the coastal battery model that I also have to paint later on.
That’s a big one!
These guns are supplied on a sprue so are easy to snip off, clean up and glue in position as bow chasers, although the existing blob representing a gun has to be carved off first on the cotton clad model (ASV55). On the other model I’ve added guns to, the General Stirling Price (ASV59), it’s an easier job as there’s nothing on the foredeck to remove. I think this is a neat little conversion and does actually look like the real thing, albeit a larger calibre bit of kit that would probably do more damage to the boat if you fired it than to the enemy!
