I wanted to do something a bit different this afternoon so did a stock check on the 1/600th scale magnet based aircraft for MiG Alley (and also Bag the MiG). It looked like I could do with some USMC air support to add to the USN aircraft I’d already prepared, so I have magnet based eight AD-1 Skyraiders, four more F4U-4 Corsairs, four more F9F Panthers (my favourite early jet) and an S51 rescue helicopter, just in case any of them get shot down behind enemy lines.

This is a fiddly little bugger to assemble but looks pretty cool when it’s done. I had to use a tiny 1mm x 1mm magnet which gives you an idea of the size of the thing! As a light aircraft in MiG Alley it has to operate as a pair with another light aircraft, so I glued up an L5 Stinson Sentinel as a FAC, although I will do another chopper at some point as well. I’m looking forward to slapping some paint and decals onto these sooner rather than later!
