[EN/PL] Landsknechts V: „Pike Court / „Sąd Pik“
I invite you to the fifth part of the history of the Lancknechts formation today. On this occasion, I painted two new models from Warlord Games:
- A plastic soldier with a two-handed sword from THIS BOX
- and another metal from the LOOTING PARTY BOX
Plastic Landsknecht wins definitely better in terms of quality of workmanship and sharpness of details. However, metal designs also have a lot of charm and ingenuity in poses.

Pike Court
It was a unique way to administer justice in the Lancknechts regiment. Was very different from an ordinary court and during the first drill the ruler had to issue permission to the Pike Court, which then had to be approved by the majority of soldiers in the regiment by open voting.
The Pik Court was most often gathered, when the soldier’s fault was indisputable and there was no doubt that he violated peace or insulted the regiment’s banner.
After accepting this type of court, the accused stood directly in front of the gathered regiment and all decisions were made by soldiers without the participation of the bench and judges.
The result of the meeting was only one – acquittal or death. The sentence was carried out immediately – in the case of a conviction, after voting, execution was carried out in front of the comrades.
What was common with the „common court“ was the participation of a lawyer who presented an indictment to regiment. The accused also had time to explain and plead for grace.
If he failed to convince them, everyone moved to the place of execution.
The soldiers formed two lines, three ranks each, in the east-west line, with banner bearers closing the gap at the end, standing with their backs to the sun.
The convict walked three times before the soldiers, begging them for forgiveness and granting them forgiveness. Then he took a seat at the end next to the profos, who hit him three times in almost the frame ordering him to run quickly between the lines, where his companions with the sound of flutes and drums with pikes took his life.
Interestingly, if the convict managed to escape through a breach left by another soldier in the line, took his place at the place of execution…
