I dont predict major revolutions this year at DwarfCrypt, and as it was in previous years, you can expect, my dears, once a week entry with painted models + short, non-boring storytelling.

I used in today’s entry:

• Professor Egir Eldstrom’s model (which has not got a separate entry yet, and was already painted good two years ago!) from Micro Art Studio;
• Elements of the Modular Stone Wall area from friends from Grabblecast.

Modular Stone Wall is made of resin and consists of 9 parts. The walls and the gate are so universal that they fit perfectly into fantasy and historical wargames. In my post they will do as an element of Gothic-Victorian scenery. My only addition is a monk figurine, which I added for a climate on one of the brick pillars.

One of the elements that reminds me of the atmosphere of Victorian horror is literature and, among other things, a short novel by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, which was first published in the original on January 5, 1886. Title is Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
The piece tells about a London lawyer who is investigating a strange incident between his friend dr. Henry Jekyll and the misanthropic Edward Hyde.
The renowned London physician Doctor Jekyll discovers the secret of the potion that allows him to change his character. Under the cover of the night, the doctor turns into Mr. Hyde, who becomes the embodiment of evil.

       Evil in the form of Hyde, not inhibited by the good in the form of Jekyll, begins more and more boldly until Hyde becomes a murderer …
The figure of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde is certainly a symbol of Victorian times (but only?).
It is certainly a symbol of the duality of human nature. In each of us, a beast sometimes wakes up, which is hard to tame.

       The novel is known as a portrait of psychopathology and a dual personality. In English-speaking cultures, the phrase „Jekyll and Hyde“ means someone with a two-faced personality. The book quickly succeeded and became one of the bestsellers of R.L. Stevenson.
The first stage adaptations of the book appeared a year after its publication, and the novel became the canvas of many films and comics.

Modular Stone Wall wykonany jest żywicy i składa się z 9 części. Mury oraz brama są na tyle uniwersalne, że doskonale pasują jako teren w grach fantasy oraz historycznych. W moim wpisie będą robiły za element gotycko-wiktoriańskiej scenerii. Jedynym moim dodatkiem jest figurka mnicha, którą dla klimatu dodałem na jeden z ceglanych filarów.
