The main impulse to create today’s entry was „The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures“ book by Aaron Mahnke, author and host of the best-selling LORE podcast.
The book appears like a medieval grimoire, a book in which all the known ropes about legends and folklore have been gathered, the common denominator of which is the chilling story.
Undead? Possession? Werewolves? Myths about sea monsters? Here you are!

        The author, in an interesting and engaging way, spins stories and guides us through each of these peculiar halls in which SOMETHING is hidden, which is whispered in Eastern European villages or in the Caribbean swamps. Aaron Mahnke introduces us to the world of Nordic draugrs (about which I wrote in a large way in THIS place), visit one of the cemeteries of modern Manchester in the footsteps of Satanists and a much more dangerous creature, and spread out prime factors neamh mairbh, zombi times of old Irish. And this is only a small promil available in the column’s article.

       Today, in consultation with the ZYSK and S-KA, I prepared an entry related to one of the aspects of the fight against vampires – vampire hunters.
I also painted another Flagellant, a member of my Vampire Hunters band.
This peculiar group of hunters was called in old Bulgaria as Sabotnik and Vampirdzia.

       The first one was summoned to the village, when the population suspected that the deceased had fallen victim to a vampire, striga or ghost and had not experienced eternal happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Sabotnik ordered then to dig a body and carefully examined it. If it turned out that the body did not show signs of decomposition, but horrible! Swelled, nails grew, and red liquid filtered from the mouth, it was necessary to burn it and the ashes were scattered on four winds.

        According to Bulgarian folklore, Sabotnik was at birth. At that time, the power and gift of detecting vampires arose. There was only one condition – it was necessary to be born between Christmas and January 6. It was believed once that on these days they acted with the apostles blessing.

       The second group that is remembered in myths and legends is Vampirdzia. They are already typical of the popular in pop culture ‚Van Helsings‘, traveling the country as long and wide in search of bloodsuckers and fighting them with the help of sophisticated devices.
They lived mainly thanks to donations received by scared and superstitious villagers.
Interestingly, they vampire only on Saturdays and at all costs tried to lure them to cemeteries, where it was believed that vampires are weaker …
        The later concept of Vampirdzia went further and the victims of their hunts also became people suspected of witchcraft and contacts with Evil one. But you will learn about this and other interesting stories from „The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures“ book.

Witam wszystkich odwiedzających!

Głównym impulsem do stworzenia dzisiejszego wpisu była książka  „The world of LORE. Potworne Istoty“ Aarona Mahnke, autora i gospodarza bestsellerowego podcastu LORE.
Książka jawi się niczym średniowieczny grimoire, księga w której zgromadzone zostały wszystkie znane arkana dotyczące legend i folkloru, którego wspólnym mianownikiem są mrożące krew w żyłach opowieści.
Nieumarli? Opętania? Wilkołaki? Mity o morskich potworach? Proszę bardzo!
       Autor w ciekawy i zajmujący sposób snuje historie i oprowadza Nas po każdej z tych osobliwych sal, w której czi się COŚ, o czym szepcze się we wschodnioeuropejskich wioskach lub na karaibskich bagnach. Aarona Mahnke przybliża nam świat nordyckich draugów (o których pisałem w obszerny sposób w TYM miejscu), odwiedzamy jeden ze cmentarzy współczesnego Manchesteru tropem satanistów i istoty o wiele groźniejszej, oraz rozkładamy na czynniki pierwsze neamh mairbh , czyli zombi czasów dawnych Irlandczyków. A to tylko niewielki promil dostępnych w książce felietonów.

       Dziś w porozumieniu z wydawnictwem ZYSK i S-KA przygotowałem wpis związany z jednym z aspektów walki z wampirami – czyli łowców wampirów.
Pomalowałem również kolejnego Biczownika, członka mojej drużyny Łowców Wampirów.
Ta osobliwa grupa tropicieli zwana była w dawnej Bułgarii Sabotnikami oraz Vampirdźia.
       Pierwsza wzywana była do wioski, kiedy ludność podejrzewała, że zmarły padł ofiarą wampira, strzygi lub upiora i nie zaznał wiecznego szczęścia w Królestwie Niebieskim.
Sabotnik kazał wówczas wykopać ciało i uważnie je badał. Jeżeli okazało się, że ciało nie okazywało oznak rozkładu a, o zgrozo!, puchło, rosły paznokcie, a z ust sączyła się czerwona ciecz, trzeba było je spalić, a prochy rozsypać na cztery wiatry.
       Według bułgarskiego folkloru Sabotnikiem stawało się w chwili narodzin. Zyskiwało się wówczas moc i dar wykrywania wampirów. Był tylko jeden warunek- należało urodzić się między Bożym Narodzeniem a 6 stycznia. Wierzono kiedyś, że w te dni działali mocnej swym błogosławieństwem apostołowie.

       Drugą grupą o której pamięta się w mitach i legendach są Vampirdzia. To już typowi, znani z popkultury „Van Helsingowie“, przemierzający kraj jak długi i szeroki w poszukiwaniu krwiopijców i zwalczania ich przy pomocy wymyślnych przyrządów.
Żyli głównie dzięki datkom otrzymywanym przez wystraszonych i zabobonnych wieśniaków.
Co ciekawe, poniszczyli wampiry tylko w soboty i za wszelką cenę próbowali je zwabić na cmentarze, gdzie wierzono że wampiry są słabsze…
       Późniejsza koncepcja Vampirdzia poszła dalej i ofiarami ich polowań stali się również ludzie podejrzani o czarostwo i kontakty ze Złym. Ale o tym, i o innych ciekawych historiach dowiecie się z książki „The world of LORE. Potworne Istoty“.
