[ENG/PL] About how the Hobbits celebrate. Part I / O tym jak Hobbici świętują. Część I (Warmonger Miniatures)
After a week’s break due to a visit to Poznan at Blog Conference Poznan, I invite you to a new entry. Today I come back to the subject of the hobbits and halflings and would like to introduce the Honorable Visitors and fans of prose J.R.R. Tolkien a few holidays, festivities and fun of hobbits known throughout Shire or Bree. In the first part, I invite you to the Pipe Smoking Day.
The halfling model comes from the excellent Warmonger Miniatures, specializing in classic fantasy figures. Courtesy of Warmonger team, from time to time I will return to their excellent figurines, which will certainly appeal to all lovers of fantasy games and model collectors in the spirit of Oldhammer.

Information about the Hobbits can be found primarily in the „Lord of the Rings“ and the title „Hobbit“ by the master J.R. Tolkien.
There are three types of hobbits: Fallohids, Harfoot and Stoorow.
They live mainly Shire, but they were also found in other lands, but in very small quantities. It is definitely related to the fact that halflings do not like traveling (yes, yes Bilbo, Frodo …).
Hobbits are a small people – smaller than dwarves, but in many cases thicker than them, even if only slightly gave way to their heights.
They are endowed with tender and clear eyes, and despite their carcass they could move agile and light, especially in the rural and forest landscape. They can also quickly and noiselessly disappear (not only thanks to magic rings!). This was probably due to meetings with Big People, with whom the hobbits did not want to talk. However, wizards are considered to be weirdos and muddies!
Hobbits like to dress in bright colors, and especially liked yellow and green. They almost never wear shoes, because their feet are naturally hard-soled, overgrown with lush, curly hair.
Hobbits live in their small country, not feeling the need to travel and explore the world beyond. They love peace and silence and fertile land. They deal with agriculture and love stories about heroes and genealogy of their own families. They often sing and drink beer.
One of the most important celebrations of the little people is Pipe Smoking Day, known only in Shire and Bree. We can find excellent herbs in the wild state only in Gondor, and it remains a mystery how it found itself in the land of Hobbits. Perhaps went there as an ornamental plant in a pot? It is impossible to settle now, the fact is that it is the ancestors of Bilbo Baggins who are known for their love of pipe pot and it is not surprising that they would commemorate that day.
The feast today is always on the first (Highday) seventh day of the week in the hobbit season in September (Halimath). The festivities take place at Hobbiton and in Shire. Bree is also famous for them.
The main festival usually starts in the late afternoon from the parade of multicolored flowers. The patron of the holiday includes the mayor and the city council, whose resolution the day after the festivities, due to grand play and food and drink, becomes also a holiday and free day.
During the Pipe Smoking Day, the most tasty and aromatic leaves of the herb grown in different districts are also selected. Then there are many manifestations of local patriotism that lead to quarrels, which makes the selection of the champion extremely difficult …
Wyróżniamy trzy szczepy hobbitów: Fallohidzi, Harfootowie i Stoorowie.
