About the Ravens in the Nordic world.

        In the tradition of Nordic beliefs, crows are among the most important and most sacred animals. Their ruler is all-father Odin. Practically always seeing the image of the highest of the Nords we see accompanying two ravens – Hugin (thought, thinking) and Munin (memory, remembering).
Their main mission was to bring Odin news from all subordinate worlds. They also often played the role of messengers of Odin’s words. Have you read the Hobbit? The kings of Ereborn also had majestic crows on their services, which carried messages to the surviving kinsmen.

       The All-father is also called in old-iceland Hrafnagudkr (God Raven) or Hrafnass (As Raven), which only highlights the inseparable relationship with these birds. Interestingly, crows were also an important part of Viking life. They were closely related to battle and war, perhaps because they often circled the battlefield in anticipation of the bodies of the fallen (or perhaps Odin himself blessed the warriors in this way?).
        Nevertheless, this bird became the main symbol of the Scandinavians – its images were painted on shields and banners (hrafnmerk – the Crow sign). Most often seen before death, which could confirm them in the belief that they will be taken away at the door of Walhalla.

       In the Viking series, broadcast on the HISTORY channel at various times these mythical birds appear, directly associated with Odin (eg, the news of the death of Ragnar by his sons).
        For centuries, however, the ravens, associated with death, the degenerative mode of life, have become a symbol of evil. They received a demonic image associated with Satan and all that was wrong. The Ravens began to preach death (E.A. Poe „Kruk“), throwing charms, and the witch in addition to black cat and goat also had a raven.

Warto pamiętać, że przed malowaniem bardzo pomocne będzie umycie zestawu w ciepłej wodzie z mydłem oraz wyczyszczenie elementów z lekkich pozostałości po odlewie. Ja używam nożyka modelarskiego oraz szczoteczki do zębów. Bądźcie przy tym bardzo ostrożni, ponieważ elementy są małe i mogą ulec złamaniu.


O krukach w świecie nordyckim.

       W tradycji wierzeń nordyckich kruki należą do najważniejszych i najświętszych zwierząt. Ich władcą jest wszech-ojciec Odyn. Praktycznie zawsze widząc obraz najwyższego z Nordów widzimy towarzyszące mu dwa kruki- Hugina (myśl, myślący) oraz Munina (pamięć, pamiętającego).
Ich główną misją było przynoszenie Odynowi wieści ze wszystkich podległych światów. Często występowały też w roli posłańców słów Odyna. Czytaliście Hobbita? Królowie Erebornu także mieli na swoich usługach majestatyczne kruki, które przenosiły wiadomości do dalej mieszkających pobratymców.

         Wszech-ojciec w staroislandzkim nazywany jest także Hrafnagudkr (Bóg Kruków) czy Hrafnass (As Kruków) co tylko podkreśla jego nierozerwalną więź z tymi ptakami. Co ciekawe, kruki były także ważnym elementem życia wikingów. Były ściśle związane z bitwą i wojną, być może dlatego że często krążyły nad polem bitwy w oczekiwaniu na ciała poległych (a może sam Odyn błogosławił w ten sposób wojowników?).
       Niemniej jednak, ptak ten stał się głównym symbolem Skandynawów – jego wizerunki malowali na tarczach i sztandarach (hrafnmerki– kruczy znak). Jego najczęściej widzieli przed śmiercią, co mogło utwierdzać ich w przekonaniu, że zaraz zostaną zabrani pod wrota Walhalli.

       W serialu Wikingowie, emitowanego na kanale HISTORY w różnych momentach pojawiają się te mityczne ptaki, bezpośrednio kojarzące się z Odynem (np. przyjęcie wiadomość o śmierci Ragnara przez jego synów).
       Przez wieki jednak, kruki, kojarzone ze śmiercią, padlinożerczym trybem życia, stały się symbolem zła. Otrzymały demoniczny wizerunek, związany z Szatanem i wszystkim co złe. Kruki zaczęły zwiastować śmierć (E.A. Poe „Kruk“), rzucać uroki, a czarownica oprócz czarnego kota i kozła miała także kruka.
