I’ve pushed my 1/2400th scale Anglo-French war ironclads to one side over the last week or so but am now going to attempt to get the whole French fleet painted up over the next few days. I have worked out what I think are a good combination of nine basic paint shades including base and highlight layers, together with a couple of ink washes, so that I can keep the process down to a manageable and fast production line. I have quite a lot of ships to paint in the French fleet alone, last count being eighteen, not counting the extra ones I seem to keep adding on top. The plan is to get these done in no less than a week, so that I can then start on the Royal Navy, which has even more!
