After some thought I’ve decided to make the Russo Japanese War a project for next year, using the excellent Tumbling Dice 1/2400th ships and both Tsushima and Broadside and Salvo, White Bear, Red Sun for the rules. This is not a new idea, as it is what I initially planned to do when the Tumbling Dice models were first available a few years ago, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to tackle. I’m particularly keen to have a go at something historical rather than counterfactual for a change, so it’s an ideal option, although the Sino Japanese War was also a contender. I have quite a few of the models already and will be filling out the fleets for both sides in the run up to 2023. I’m also planning to make some new coastal terrain modules for this, which can double up for other periods, as my desert themed Chilean coastline really isn’t a good fit. I’m looking forward to getting this project underway, probably as the first thing on my ‚to do‘ list in the New Year.
