Salnave’s War

I persuaded myself that my weekly pay day purchase this week would be a copy of The Ships of Salnave’s War written by William Warner, together with the Dahlgren and Columbiad supplement for the aforementioned, extremely obscure conflict. Now, I hasten to add that I have no immediate or even medium term plans to start collecting models for this campaign setting but I have read a lot of interesting things about it, so thought I’d take a closer look.
It is a somewhat tangential conflict, if that’s the right term to use, but it did involve some relatively available ships which can be sourced in various scales from at least a couple of places, although my preference would be for 1/2400th scale which is less well catered for but has been tentatively explored by other more adventurous naval wargamers. Anyway, it’s another diversion from what I’m supposed to be doing but I can justify the minimal expense as a little reward for a very hard year’s work.
