1795 Venice is home to vindictive gangs tearing the city apart and now the signs are becoming apparent…

Tightly packed and positioned perilously close to the murky water of the canals, Venetian properties are dangerous. Since the Rent first appeared above the city, violent gangs have led tactical warfare through the streets and now the city is starting to show signs of this. Welcome to this week’s Monday Motivation which is made possible by Rens Van Den Bergh.

Carnevale Tabletop

Unlike the streets, the Venetian rooftops remain undamaged by the events following the Rents opening. Gangs now send nimble climbers atop structures in the hope of avoiding enemy agents or waiting for opportunities to attack from above. Rens has done a fantastic job with the Crisotomo Tower and im a big fan of the additional hanging chains (guessing these are for sinful Strigoi).

Streets

Thankfully the Pietra Bridge isn’t falling apart but moss and algae is clearly starting to from over its surface. Apparently the Patricians forgot to pay the builders to maintain it. Taking advantage of the Modular Venetian Short Walls, Rens has managed to section of the canals and make a tight narrow street. This would be ideal creating a bottleneck situation if you want to corner low level enemies.

The city streets are starting to fall into disrepair with piles of rouble forming in the buildings edges. Repairing brick and mortal is less important than staying alive in this city which likely explains the state of Venice. Rens has done a great job creating a decaying city aesthetic and I like the lack of colour in the cities buildings. There is just something about the jungle of grey which draws your eyes to miniatures and smaller city details.

Houses

Don’t let us put you off visiting Venice as its not all doom and gloom. If you’ve got the Ducats or willingness to work for somebody who does, you may gain access to a Patricians home. These properties can have peaceful gardens with lush grass shrubs and simple bird baths. Rens has created a lovely little corner of the city and it would be a shame if a Harpy or Strige managed to make its way into this space.

Canals

Finally, if you want to take a moment away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets, then head to the canals. This part of the city is much more peaceful but equally deadly. Lurking beneath the waters surface you’ll find the Rashaar. Besides this, your might bump into a member of the Guild wanting you to join them. Rens has done a fantastic job with the wooden Jetties with the rotten wood looking ready to collapse.
