TTStaff Dropfleet Tourament Ships – Bioficers Fleet 1

Dive into this Bioficer fleet painted by a member of the TTStaff.

The first rounds of our Dropfleet Commander staff tournament are taking place, so now is the ideal time to examine some of the painted fleets. With over 13+ years of TTService, Jay has painted countless high-quality miniatures and therefore happily tackled the latest Dropfleet faction, the Bioficers!

The Predatory Fleet: Woken Fury

Perhaps Jay’s fleet name is hinting at the origins of the Bioficers? What if they’re an ancient race who have awoken in the depths of space… yeah we’ll leave the lore writing to Dave Lewis. However, given the look of this fleet we can certainly leave the miniature painting up to Jay.

Using TTCombat paints, Jay has created a vibrant synthwave theme inspired by his love of the band Gunship and I like it. A stark contrast from the sinister red studio theme paint job you’re used to seeing the Bioficers painted in, Jay has made this fleet his own. Below are the numbers of purples and blues used to achieve this scheme.

Jay used the Directional airbrushing technique for his fleet which is relatively easy to perform, and it has a powerful effect. The heavy blast of purple atop the ships and blue below really makes the miniatures pop off base. Take a closer look at the Scion Battlecruiser below and you’ll easily see the effect in practice. In terms of assembly, I like how Jay switched the direction of the upper and lower hull sections placed above the thruster. Additionally, this more ‘arrowhead’ design is emphasised by the horizontal placement of most of the panel sections.

If you enjoyed seeing this paintscheme then you may like to know that Jay has his own Twitch channel Badcompany_painting where he painted these very ships. Feel free to check him out!
