Victrix Greek Peltasts, Javelin Men and Slingers
In this post, I want to showcase the Victrix Greek Peltasts, Javelin Men and Slingers for my Macedonian Army. As always, I give you my opinion about the kit and add a quick How to paint tutorial as well.
The kit
The Victrix Greek Peltasts, Javelin Men and Slingers is a plastic kit. The quality and the details are great, as you may expect from a well-renowned company as Victrix. The kit comes with multiple heads and weapons, so you can build your miniatures with some variety. You can even find crests for the helmet to add as you wish. Unfortunately, there are no decals included in the box. However, Victrix offers some from Little Big Men, which I bought.
How to Paint
- Priming the miniatures
In the first step I applied Vallejo primer (white) to the models.
- Basecolors
In the second step, I painted the base colors. I prefer to paint my ancient stuff rather colorful. The tunics were painted using the following paints: Army Painter Daemonic Yellow, Army Painter Hydra Turquoise, Army Painter Goblin Green, Army Painter Skeleton Bone, Vallejo Carmine Red (908), and Vallejo Panzer Aces Canvas (314).
The wooden parts of the weapons and shields were painted in Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood (310), while I used Army Painter Gun Metal for all metal parts. The leather was painted in Army Painter Leather Brown. For the helmets, I used Vallejo Brass (801), while the hair was painted in Vallejo Black Grey (862).
- Shading
In the third step, I washed the miniatures using the Army Painter Quickshade Soft Tone. And yes, I used the messy stuff in the tin can.
- Applying decals
In the forth step, I applied Revell Decal Softener before I placed the decals.
- Basing
The basing was pretty straightforward. I applied watered down PVA to the base and covered it with sand. After several hours it was time to base coat the sand with Vallejo Tan Earth (874). After that, I dry brushed the bases with Vallejo Iraqui Sand (819) and Vallejo Pale Sand (837).
- Sealing
In the final step, I sealed the miniatures using Army Painter Anti-Shine.

Verdict
If you plan to build a Greek or Macedonian army, the Victrix Greek Peltasts, Javelin Men and Slingers are a must-buy in my opinion. You will get a lot of miniatures at a decent price. Above all, add a box of archers and you will have more than enough skirmishers for any occasion.
