WWII Naval Project – Early War Japanese Task Force
The Easter holiday task is to magnet base all of the aircraft I need for my Bag the Hun Guadalcanal scenario writing project, ready for painting next month. This has given me a really good motive to make the naval project for the next few months a WW2 Japanese task force in 1/3000th scale, the air component of which being the 1/600th scale models I’m preparing for Bag the Hun, thereby killing two birds with one stone.
I have all the ships required for a 1940-41 Imperial Japanese fleet, the bulk being Davco models but with Navwar for the carriers, so that I can make use of the excellent Flight Deck Decals deck transfers. The emphasis, however, will be on the battleships, heavy cruisers, light cruisers and destroyer escorts, so that I can run some early war games using Find, Fix and Strike, as well as having a crack at Nimitz.
This will all have to wait until next month, however, as I still need to wrap up my Strength and Honour and South American pre-dreadnought extras, as well as completing the basing for the Red Actions! AFSR army, all of which will soak up most of April.
