[ENG/PL] Night Goblins #1 / Nocne Gobliny #1 (Rotten Factory War Sickles & Shields)
Today, a complete novelty on DwarfCrypt. The history of literature, fantasy games and movies is full of various fairy-tale creatures – and yes, in addition to elves, dwarves or unicorns we also have a second pole – beings of the dark ones- Demons, Undead or Goblins, a fraction of the opponents of our pure heart heroes.
Thanks to the kindness of Pawel from Rotten Factory, I will show you what you can do with two sets of War Sickles and Shields parts. I decided to use a few Warhammer goblins for that, which I will use later as a Mordheim band.
I really like the atmosphere of the discussed weapon and, above all, the shields that worship the 80s and 90s minis world. This divine (demonic!) Oldhammer design!
Below I invite you to see the effects of converting and painting and a few words about the Night Goblins. There will be another chapter of the green theatre in time.
Many years ago one of the tribes of green-skinned goblins settled in the caves of the World’s Edge Mountains. Passing centuries underground, they got used to the darkness and sunlight became their enemy. When they come to roam the open space, they do it reluctantly, preferring to sneak in the dark. These beings are now known as the Night Goblins. It is not difficult to distinguish them among other tribes of goblins – many of them dress dark coats, pointed capes with hoods that are supposed to protect them from the hated rays of the sun.
All Night Goblins have pointy claws and can not be distinguished between untrained human or dwarven eyes. However, anyone who knows this specific race at least will soon notice that the shape and size of the hood tells a lot about the goblin. The larger and more decorative the cap, the more important the goblin. The caps of minor chiefs are not much higher than those of the average warrior. The more important bosses wielding big tribes have huge caps decorated with bones, teeth of different creatures, skulls of killed enemies, or dried bats, for example.
The year of the night goblins is inscribed in the lunar calendar. A specific group of Lunatics can determine the phase of the moon even when staying deep underground. One of the most important festival is Terrible Night, the moon festival. Night goblins then ignite a large number of fires and torches that are supposed to give the moon the strength to shine for another year.
Dwarvish prejudices say that igniting any unnecessary light in this period can bring misfortune.
Night Goblins very often inhabit deserted strongholds of dwarves and most of the Dwarven Empire is teeming with these wicked creatures. Eternal hatred makes the ancient race and the Night Goblins fierce enemies, and the course of their wars is bloody and merciless …
