It is true that today there was to be another entry related to the Victrix models, however, painting the Auxiliaries kit goes very smoothly, and I think it’s nice, that’s why I want to introduce you today to the Centurion function in ancient Rome.
Of course, the model comes from Victrix Ltd and was one of the possible commanders of the Auxiliaries box. In my humble opinion, the figures from this set beat every competition.
The performance, as I mentioned in „in box„, is masterful.

Centurion, from Latin. Centurio was a lower officer in ancient Rome, the commander of centurias – the smallest tactical unit of a legion, or a centurion, because at first centuria was 100 soldiers (later much less).
        In the time of the republic centurions were chosen by soldiers themselves, and during the empire he was appointed by the legate. Centurions most often were the most experienced and well-deserved soldiers in the legion. Centurions were also hierarchical depending on which centurion in the legion they commanded. The main centurion of the legion was the commander of the I centurii I cohort – Primus Pilus. The second centuria was commanded by the princeps, the third centuria: the hastatus, the 4th centuria; princeps posterior, V
centuria; hastatus posterior.

        In fact, centurions during the battle had the main responsibility for the course of the fight, because they directly implemented the intentions of the command.

        The centurion described today comes from the Earlu Empire Roman Auxiliaries unit (history of this unit in THIS place). Auxiliaries were commanded by Roman officers, which was supposed to be certainty in action. Despite the appearance of a real bad ass, he does not yet have any signs for „courage, valor and bloody wounds“ (characteristic rings on the armor).

Co prawda miał być dziś inny wpis związany z modelami Victrixa, jednakże malowanie zestawu Auxiliaries idzie mi bardzo sprawnie, i chyba ładnie, dlatego pragnę Wam dziś przybliżyć funkcję Centuriona w starożytnym Rzymie.
Model pochodzi oczywiście od Victrix Ltd i był jednym z możliwych do złożenia dowódców boxu Auxiliaries. Moim skromnym zdaniem figurki z tego zestawu biją na głowę wszelką konkurencje.
Wykonanie, co wspominałem w „in boxie„, jest mistrzowskie.


Centurion, z łac. Centurio, był w starożytnym Rzymie niższym oficerem, dowódcą centurii – najmniejszej jednostki taktycznej legionu, inaczej setnik, gdyż początkowo centuria liczyła 100 żołnierzy (później znacznie mniej).
       W czasach republiki centuriona wybierali sami żołnierze, a w czasach cesarstwa mianowany był przez legata. Najczęściej centurionami zostawali najbardziej doświadczeni i zasłużeni żołnierze w legionie. Centurioni również byli zhierarchizowani w zależności od tego, którą centurią w legionie dowodzili. Głównym centurionem legionu był dowódca I centurii I kohorty – Primus Pilus . II centurią dowodził princeps, III centurią : hastatus, IV centurią; princeps posterior, V
centurią ; hastatus posterior.

        W zasadzie na centurionach podczas bitwy spoczywała główna odpowiedzialność za przebieg walki, gdyż to oni bezpośrednio realizowali zamierzenia dowództwa.

       Opisywany dziś centurion pochodzi z rzymskich oddziałów pomocniczych Auxiliaries (dokładna historia TU). Auxiliaries dowodzone były przez rzymskich oficerów, co miało stanowić pewność w działaniu. Pomimo wyglądu prawdziwego bad ass’a, nie posiada jeszcze żadnych oznaczeń za „odwagę, dzielność oraz rany krwawe“ (charakterystyczne kółka na pancerzu).
